Hi, I’m Kristy (she/her)…
Welcome. I’m glad you are here. Here’s a quick look at who I am and how I support the people I work with.
I am a licensed clinical social worker.
I have a master’s degree in social work, have completed the required hours, and have passed the necessary exams to be an independent mental health professional and supervise other mental health professionals.
I specialize in a few areas.
I have nearly 20 years of experience working with individuals and their loved ones navigating the emotional complexities of a cancer diagnosis or living with a genetic mutation that increases cancer risk. While I haven’t had a diagnosis of cancer myself, by being a caregiver and friend, I understand the ripple effects this disease can have on relationships, identity, and emotional well-being.
In both my personal and professional life, I’ve seen how anxiety often emerges during times of uncertainty, change, or trauma. Whether it’s related to health, relationships, or a high stress upbringing, anxiety can take hold in the body and mind in ways that feel overwhelming. As a therapist, I want to help people understand the neuroscience behind anxiety while teaching tools to support the brain and body in regulating, healing, and building self-compassion.
This understanding of anxiety is especially useful when working with adult children of alcoholics & dysfunctional families. Growing up in an unpredictable or emotionally chaotic environment can lead to patterns of people pleasing, difficulty with boundaries, and persistent self-doubt.
Through a compassionate, trauma-informed approach, I help clients reconnect with their sense of safety, worth, and resilience, no matter where their story begins.
I am holistic.
I integrate holistic practices with the people I work with. I'm certified as a yoga teacher, and reiki practitioner, and like to blend Eastern and Western approaches to wellness.
I am an advocate.
I am dedicated to supporting marginalized communities by recognizing their struggles and advocating for their rights. I firmly believe in respect, fairness, and inclusion.
I love to teach and mentor.
I teach continuing education classes, present at conferences, and offer corporate wellness support. I provide supervision and anxiety-reduction support for exam preparation.
